Hey there! Are you flying to Taiwan soon and curious about Taoyuan Metro?? Here’s a short writeup if you are interested!!

Taipei Taoyuan Airport (TPE) Terminal & respective Metro Stations

Depending on your airline, you would land at different terminals at Taipei Taoyuan Airport (TPE) . Singapore Airlines and Eva Air uses Terminal 2, while Scoot uses Terminal 1. Both terminals have its own metro station, known as A13 Airport Terminal 2 and A12 Airport Terminal 1 respectively.

There will also be a upcoming new station A14 Airport Terminal 3. For now, the rides from A13 and A12 to A14a Airport Hotel are free for E-tickets users which I guess is great for travelers that is stopping in Taiwan briefly!

We took Scoot airline, which landed us in Terminal 1. It is a short walk (5-10 mins) with signages in place guiding us on how to get to the Taoyuan Metro in the airport. A12 Airport Terminal 1 station was very clean and modern looking.

Train Station Stamp Collection

Digressing here but.. HOLD YOUR FOOT HERE before you tap in if you are an avid stamp collector! Similar as TRA, there are unique stamps that you could collect at each airport metro station! The design for the Taoyuan Metro stations are different compared to the TRA ones, which feature more of the unique landmarks in the area.

In case you miss it out, it is at the brochure stand. I only noticed it when I am back in the airport to fly home, and was loitering around waiting for my last cup of bubble tea to be ready HAHA. Oh ya, there is a COCO bubble tea shop at Terminal 1 that you could fix your bubble tea craving when you first arrive and before you fly back home! :D

Operational Information

Anyways, back to the original topic. With 2 different types of airport trains: commuter and express, obviously take the express one la. But being in a hurry to board the train that was departing in 3 minutes, we boarded the commuter train heading to Taipei and completely forgot about getting on express train instead. So, do take note!

There are many ways of paying for your ticket. From Single-Journey Token Ticket, E-tickets (sold at NT$100), One-Day pass (NT$320) to Contactless Credit Cards (VISA, Mastercard, JCB contactless, UnionPay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay).

Fare wise, attaching the fare table for your reference. To read this table, you simply take your final station as the column, and glide down to the row of the station you depart from. For instance, I departed from A1 Taipei Main Station to A12 Airport Terminal 1, that will cost NT$160. With the discount of NT$10 from Oct 1st 2018, that will cost NT$150.
