Hokkaido July 17 Trip: Doshin — UHB Hanabi Festival (28 July 2017)

Konichiwa! This is a major major throwback post!

Is there anyone who could resist a fire-work festival? I was searching for festivals to visit in Hokkaido when I came across the Doshin — UHB Hanabi Festival and decided that I just have to go. This was definitely a plus point since you get to watch a firework show while overseas for free! It makes my holiday more worthwhile muhaha.

Moreover, since 2017 is the 130th anniversary of its host, Hokkaido Newspaper, the festival was reported to be held at a larger scale. I could validate this as it was spectacular as compared to Lake Toya Summer Fireworks. And, it definitely made the ones in Singapore pale in comparison.

But I do wonder how does Japan actually fork out so much money into firework shows? Because it’s not just in Sapporo and Lake Toya that has Hanabi festivals, but in other cities as well, ranging from Hakodate City, Asahikawa to Noboribetsu City. It makes me wonder why Singapore can’t match up.
